Brands of Tomorrow opens for entries

Walpole is pleased to announce entries are now open for the 2016 Walpole Brands of Tomorrow programme, in association with Mishcon de Reya. The programme sets out to nurture and support the next generation of British luxury brands, providing them with bespoke learning and coaching as well as access to Walpole’s established membership. Since its inception in 2007, over 75 emerging luxury brands have benefited from the programme including Astley Clarke, Miller Harris, Charlotte Olympia, Business of Fashion and Mr Hare.

To be eligible, companies must have an annual turnover of a minimum of £100,000 and demonstrate the highest standards of quality, design and craftsmanship, together with an aspiration to develop into full Walpole members. Once entries have closed on Wednesday 28th October 2015, a shortlist of successful applicants will be invited to present their business plans to the selection panel – the final 12 brands will be unveiled at an exclusive launch event at The Savoy in January where they will be partnered up with a mentor. Raine & Bea nominated for Ribble Valley Business Awards

Luxury lingerie label Raine & Bea are excited to announce their nomination for the 2015 Ribble Valley Business Awards. The brand has been chosen as finalist in three categories, ‘Most Creative Business Award’, ‘Bowland Bio Energy Award’ and ‘Made in the Ribble Valley Award’, where the company is based.

Founded in 2013 the label is known for combining vintage designs with modern appeal, using silks, textured fabrics ostrich feathers and Swarovski crystals to produce luxurious pieces. Raine & Bea are hosting a fashion show at Brady’s Wine Bar in Whalley on Thursday 22nd October and will launch a new dress range in time for the festive party season.

Geordie Shore star Marnie Simpson has been unveiled as the new face of Lovehoney Lingerie, Britain’s biggest online sex toy retailer. Marnie said she was thrilled to be modelling the Autumn/Winter Enchant Me collection for the Bath-based firm, which has been inspired by Russian love stories and encapsulates the romance, passion and opulence of old Russia.

Lingerie sales are responsible for around a third of the company’s £40 million annual sales, with Lovehoney’s own lingerie range now ranking as the best-selling pieces on the website. The Enchant Me collection was designed for women of all shapes and sizes and includes a £32.99 basque in midnight blue and black, £24.99 babydolls in pink, plum, red and black satin, bra and knicker sets in black, red and plum, plus a £24.99 robe and lacy suspender belts.

Currently experiencing rapid expansion, Damaris Ltd has created a newly specialised team with divisions split between Global, the United Kingdom, and New Business Development. The company behind cult luxury label Damaris and premium brands Mimi Holliday and Max Holliday, announced Louisa Jarman is the new Head of Global Sales, with a special focus on the management of agents, distributors, and existing accounts.

Yasmin Ward has been appointed to head the brand’s UK wholesale offering as United Kingdom Account Manager, taking over from Jarman as the chief point of contact for all UK-based sales enquiries. To continue the growth the business is experiencing, Nicola Preston was also announced as Global Business Development Manager. She joins Damaris Ltd with an extensive background working as Senior Buyer at both M&S and Debenhams before moving into consultancy.

APM Atelier Award at the Lingerie Edit

London’s only luxury intimates show, The Lingerie Edit, announces the APM Atelier Award which will be presented at the January 2016 event. One emerging brand (younger than 18 months) will be chosen to receive 6 months fast tracking and top level training including sales strategy, product design and marketing materials with a Skype call with TLE founder, David Finlayson, consultations with Bok Goodall, lingerie designer, and specialist intimates journalist, Tamar Kendall.

Boux Avenue Opens in heart of West End

Lingerie, nightwear and swimwear brand, Boux Avenue, officially launched their flagship store in Oxford Street on 4th November, marking sensational growth with 28 stores since it was created in 2011.

The 3,000 sq ft shop promises to have something for everyone with a range of sizes from 28-38A-G (and sizes 6-16). Being their first central London location there was a full day’s activities with a burlesque performance at 1.00pm with Miss Polly Rae and the L’Sheila sisters. The evening saw a star-studded celebrity and press VIP launch party.

Mish opens new shop in Wadebridge

Independent lingerie specialists Mish have relocated from Bodmin to new, larger premises in one of North Cornwall’s most idyllic town centres, Wadebridge. Mish are hosting their official opening day on Tuesday 10th November at the new shop situated in Eddystone Court, where customers will be treated to a fun filled day with ribbon cutting in the morning and a party for late shoppers complete with bubbly, nibbles and goodie bags in the evening.

“It’s a very exciting time for us. We reached the point where we had simply outgrown the space in Bodmin, the business has grown considerably and it was time to take that next step and to branch out to a new location,” said Mish owner Michele Poynter. “The move to Wadebridge will provide us with a larger, sophisticated space, allowing our customers to enjoy a truly luxurious experience.”

Steve and Valerie Newton from The Bra Closet were this year’s lucky winners of the Patricia Eve annual MODA competition, which gifts buyers with a VIP weekend away in Harrogate. The winning couple spent two nights at the White Hart hotel in the heart of Harrogate as well as enjoying the Round Table firework display, a champagne afternoon tea at Betty’s Tea Rooms and a trip to the Turkish baths.

“Bettys was a true experience made even better with a glass of champers – worth the trip alone- the hotel and room was really comfortable and made even better by the location – you could spend all weekend walking round the varied shops. Would definitely visit again, we can’t thank Patricia Eve enough,” said Steve Newton.

Hanro opens first US shop-in-shop at Bloomingdale’s in Honolulu

After being awarded the ‘Designer of the Year 2016’ title by Salon International de la Lingerie, Hanro is pleased to announce its latest achievement with the opening of the brand’s first US shop-in-shop. The new 235 square foot boutique is located within the new Bloomingdale’s at Ala Moana Center, the largest shopping mall in Hawaii, and pays homage to Hanro’s NYC flagship aesthetic through its sleek and modern design.

Raine & Bea wins business award and sees dress line gain first stockist

Raine & Bea are pleased to announce winning the “Made in the Ribble Valley” award at the 2015 Ribble Valley Business Awards. “It’s fantastic to have this recognition after we relocated to the area 12 months ago,” explained designer and founder Jenna Barnes. “We were happy to just be nominated and certainly didn’t expect to win!”

The lingerie brand also hosted an event in Whalley to showcase their many lingerie collections, including the debut of the 2016 Curtain’s Up range and preview the upcoming Raine & Bea dress range. Olivia von Halle opens flagship in Chelsea

London’s premium shopping destination Sloane Street in Chelsea was chosen by Olivia von Halle to hold the label’s first store. Open until February 2016 at 151 Sloane Street, the ‘flash flagship’ was inspired by 1920s stately homes and is the only place in the world where customers can shop the complete Olivia von Halle collection.
